EeStairs supply exhibition centrepiece

EeStairs have been appointed by The Calouste Galbenkian Foundation to provide a striking centrepiece to the forthcoming ‘Darwin’s Evolution’ exhibition. The exhibition, which opens in Lisbon, Portugal on February 12th 2009, celebrates the 200th birthday of the great British naturalist Charles Darwin.

EeStairs are supplying a dramatic, double flight DNA staircase which echoes the natural beauty of the DNA strand. Two staircases formed from graceful, sweeping tubular members arrive at circular platform where visitors can pause to view the exhibition; for children there is a transparent slide to provide an exciting journey down to the museum floor! At the centre of the stairs is a 4m high DNA strand spiraling between the two flights, this sculptural double helix is the focal point of the exhibit and a tribute to the work of Darwin.

The large DNA staircase is not only a unique and inspiring design solution but also an extraordinary technical undertaking. EeStairs are delighted to be part of such an exciting and ambitious project.
