Interstellar

Adopting technique from furniture making, molded plywood is a strong, stiff material. This forms a module of a tread extending as its own structure connecting the ceiling or floor. Arranged differently in linear or radial, multiple modules can compound into straight flights or spiral stairs. The geometry of the design consists of two identical halves; lower half mounding from the floor below supported by its compression, while upper half dipping from the floor above supported by its own tension. The physical structure is the directly reflection of what stairs are for: connection between two levels. Radial arrangement creates pockets of space as a destination, while doubles as a precious piece of artifact in the work environment. Rather than being a mere circulation device, the design set out to explore stairs in work environment that can be a destination, bringing people together where gathering and casual meet up happens
