Möbius

Möbius

In developing our concept we decided to focus on the main problem of vertical communication in the corporate environment. Which we believe has become simply the way of getting from point A to point B. The fast movement using elevators lacks many essential features that were once provided by representational staircases. For this reason, in our project we focused on restoring essential importance of a staircase in the atrium. Our inspiration to create the form was the Möbius strip. We managed to bring the idea of hiking, in similar and equally unreal way as in the world of Escher, to an eye-catching design of the staircase. Stairs become the focal point of the building, defining space of the atrium with its form. Visible from every point in the interior the staircase becomes a sculptural element that demands attention and invites you to hike to the upper floors. We designed a plan inspired by the symbol of infinity that allows for creation of internal space between sets of stairs. In this way, we form two smaller, private, just for users of stairs, atriums. In any point on the staircase users can connect with every other by making eye contact. In our design we assume that the recipient is a financial corporation. Hence minimalist and elegant form, that by usage of fine materials puts an ephasis on the company's potential. We believe that the main task that the space serves is to introduce a client to the company by presenting the surrounding space, and thus the nature of the corporation.
