Floating stairs in barn

EeStairs was contacted by the Directors of a busy practise in Berkshire who required a staircase for their new home. The barn conversion would entail a complete renovation keeping as much of the old timber-work and period features as possible.

Obviously the client knew what he wanted and EeStairs delivered the exact product to meet his demands. A mix of floating treads and fully supported treads with the added challenge of an existing barn wall which is leaning heavily.

The lower half of the staircase is comprised of solid oak treads and angled risers leading up to a small half landing. The upper flight consists again of oak treads, but cantilevered from the wall. Where required glass risers ensure compliance with UK building regulations. EeStairs TransParancy 1-04 glass balustrade is capped with stainless steel handrail whilst the fixings are clad in oak giving the appearance that the glass has sliced through the treads.

The result is a modern staircase in a design led renovation; the two complement each other perfectly.
