EeStairs has recently completed a striking floating staircase that brings a modern minimalistic look to the main living space in a contemporary home. By working closely with the client and contractor we were able to achieve this beautiful finished staircase.
EeStairs’ expertise lies in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke feature staircasessupplied to residential and commercial marketplaces. In a newly build home in St. Catharines, Ontario, EeStairs recently completed a beautiful floating staircase with wood treads and a glass railing system.
Floating staircases are very minimalistic, and modern. With this staircase we built the treads using reconstituted teak veneer over a plywood base. This enabled us to make the treads all with very similar grain pattern. The beautiful straight grained teak was finished with a clear matte finish in order to reveal the true natural colours of the wood.
The glass panels run from floor to ceiling, and the treads are caped in order to give the effect that the treads protrude through the glass. This also hides all the hardware that is used to support the treads, and gives it a very clean look. In the underside of each nosing we built in an LED light strip with a frosted acrylic defuser.
When looking at modern residential staircases, the floating staircase is definitely a favourite. With this type of staircase can be designed to tie in with many different interior spaces. We have installed these types of staircases in more traditional homes, and also in very modern homes. With this design you are able to hide all the hardware, and not have any exposed metals, as is generally the wish in a more traditional setting, or you can expose the hardware and give the staircase a more modern industrial look.
Our EeCrew is very experienced in designing, fabricating, and installing floating staircases, so please contact EeStairs to discuss your feature staircase project whether it be Custom Design, Standard Design or Co-Creation by EeStairs you can be assured of an expert service.
