Heg Amersfoort [NL]

In a private interior defined by pristine lines and light-reflective surfaces, this staircase in Amersfoort stands as a quiet yet precise intervention. EeStairs engineered and fabricated the stair as an object of architectural lucidity, where transparency and structural discipline intersect with refined detail and execution.

The most striking feature of the stair is its use of laminated frosted glass treads, which visually dematerialise the structure and allow light to pass between levels. The treads are housed in precision-cut steel stringers, which ensure both structural performance and a sharply defined geometry. Though the stair appears light and minimal, significant technical effort went into anchoring the treads securely without visible fixings—an essential consideration to maintain the purity of the design.

The choice of materials—frosted laminated glass for the treads and brushed stainless steel for the stringers and handrails—delivers a distinctly modern tone. These materials were selected not only for their aesthetic clarity, but also for their robustness and ease of maintenance in a domestic context. The result is a staircase that radiates elegance, precision and light.
