Delen Private Bank, Knokke [BE]

EeStairs + Bontinck architecture and engineering cvba

This helical staircase introduces a moment of sculptural precision in the Delen Private Bank in Knokke. Rising from the ground floor and resolving into a straight run at the mezzanine, the form is both compact and deliberate. The controlled spiral isn’t merely functional; it defines the spatial rhythm of the room and reflects the building’s understated elegance.

The balustrades, made from unusually thick, double-rolled steel, are joined by a curved central strip that ensures visual continuity. At the top, the straight flight connects cleanly to the upper level. The staircase was delivered in segments, and EeStairs’ proprietary coupling system allowed for flawless on-site assembly, maintaining geometric accuracy without visible junctions.

Beneath the treads, the EeSoffit system provides a seamless underside, avoiding the cracks and inconsistencies of plasterwork. The treads are clad in oil-finished oak Duoplank, introducing a warm counterpoint to the steel. This careful balance of materials continues in the mezzanine balustrade, where curved steel plates with smooth, ground welds highlight EeStairs’ exacting approach to crafted detail.
