Hotel Kasteel Steenenburg, Drunen [NL]

EeStairs + Jacobs Architekten bv

From the outside, the building already draws you in: through the tall glass façade you catch a first glimpse of the monumental bronze-toned spiral staircase—an unmistakable focal point in the atrium.

In the new glazed entrance of Hotel Kasteel Steenenburg (Drunen), circulation takes centre stage. The curved façade sets the scene, but it’s the staircase that defines the space: a continuous spiral in an antique bronze look, with warm light washing the treads and a strong vertical presence across multiple levels.

EeStairs delivered two spiral staircases from ground floor up to the second floor. The 12 mm steel plate stringer doubles as balustrade and sculpture—clean, monolithic, and precisely detailed. The antique bronze look is achieved with an EePaint™ finish, applied by our craftsmen to the steel elements for depth, consistency, and character. The treads are built in plywood with a walnut top layer, finished with oil for a calm, tactile warmth. Below, EeSoffit adds a fine-textured underside finish, continuing seamlessly beneath the structural landing. Provisions were made for integrated LED lighting; supply and installation by others.

The accompanying balustrade work is finished in the same antique bronze EePaint™ finish, carrying one consistent material story through the atrium.
