The staircase as a route!
A staircase does not always end at the final step. In some projects, the staircase continues into the space as an integrated stair walkway: a landing, pathway, and viewpoint combined in one continuous architectural gesture.
This element connects more than just floors. It guides movement, frames sightlines, and gives the staircase a stronger presence within the interior. Instead of being a standalone object, the staircase becomes part of a larger spatial route throughout the building.
A single helical curve rises through the atrium and then continues seamlessly into a long cantilever toward the mezzanine. The result is a monumental staircase in which the walkway feels like a natural extension of the structure.
Here, the staircase and adjoining bridge appear to float through the living space. The continuous white form transforms circulation into a sculptural gesture, where structural precision and understated elegance come together.
In this transformed building, converted from office space into residential living, the stair walkway had to be integrated precisely within an existing structure. The cantilevered landing and calm material palette demonstrate how technical precision can lead to architectural clarity.
