EeStairs + Christoff:Finio Architecture

Perched high above Central Park, a single architectural gesture redefines vertical space.

This spiral staircase delivered by EeStairs is not merely a connector between floors; it is an inhabited sculpture, meticulously carved into the atmospheric hush of the residence. Beginning on a monolithic plinth of red travertine, the stair arcs upward in a perfectly fluid helical form, its white surfaces absorbing and scattering light like the inside of a shell. The engineering precision behind this purity of form is extensive. Both the inner and outer stringers were laser‑cut from ¼‑inch mild steel plates, allowing the geometry to remain seamless even at complex transitions.

The treads, clad in Dinesen Classic Oak, rest on hidden sub‑structures that guarantee stability without visual interruption. A key challenge was coordinating the delivery and installation of the massive stair sections. Hoisted by crane to the 9th floor, the process required exact timing, street closures and permits — yet none of this effort is visible now. The staircase appears inevitable, as though it has always existed. What remains is the poise. The antique bronze handrail, warm to the touch, traces the curve like a drawn line. The travertine base, rich with sedimentary memory, anchors the stair’s lightness in the geological.

Here, EeStairs has not merely built a stair; it has orchestrated a moment where gravity and grace exchange places.
